Programs: Summer Secondary Science Institutes

Description: The Summer Secondary Science Institutes are one- or two-week workshops on NGSS aligned science content and classroom experiments and techniques for high school teachers. The workshops will be independent but linked (within subject area), so you can sign up for only those which meet your individual needs, or all of them for the complete experience. These workshops will be especially useful for new teachers and teachers teaching out-of-field.

Biology: Expert teachers will present hands-on, NGSS aligned activities and proven classroom strategies with a study of major topics in biology. Topics of discussion will also include questioning skills and updating traditional lab activities to implement a student design component.

Physics: Create authentic science experiences by connecting your physics classroom to Fermilab! Expert teachers will lead discussion on a variety of physics topics with traditional lab equipment and computer-based data taking devices. Workshop content is connected to discussions with Fermilab scientists and engineers in addition to tours of experimental sites.

Chemistry: We are in the process of updating our Chemistry Institute, check back for updates!
