Talk Title: Physics Labs and Ideas for Modern Physics
Presenter(s): Leary, Franceline - SUNY Albany, flearyny@aol.com, Teacher
 Date: 1-26-2004
 Event: 128th AAPT
Talk Annotation: Now that we have the Standard Model and quarks, etc., how do we introduce some modern physics topics into our already crowded curriculum? QuarkNet is a nationwide group interested in trying to increase students' and teachers' interest in particle physics. This past summer at State University of New York- Albany, we put together a website and some experiments that teachers can use during the year to incorporate ideas related to particle physics. Particle decay is important in modern physics, and we have interesting versions of old labs. We are also trying to build a cosmic ray detector. Come and add to your laboratory experiments and/or your demos by seeing them first. Dominick Cammarere, Kathleen Kowsky, and Franceline Leary worked on the project under the supervision of SUNY faculty and Ken Cecire of Quarknet.
