Talk Title: Cosmic Rays for High Schools: Online Data and Analysis Tools
 Presenter(s): Jordan, Tom - Fermilab, jordant@fnal.gov, Staff/PI
 Date: 1-26-2004
 Event: 128th AAPT
Talk Annotation: We are constructing a nationwide array of cosmic ray detectors in hundreds of QuarkNet classrooms. These devices use GPS time to stamp events particle arrival time. Students upload data from the detectors and analyze those data using a web interface. The system allows users to calibrate detectors, find particle lifetimes, and search in each other's data for cosmic ray showers that may deposit energy simultaneously in a number of detectors. Teachers can assign class research groups, and those groups can post their findings on the website in a poster format. Other groups can leave comments or ask poster authors a question.
