 Talk Title: Yes! High School Students Can Do Real Scientific Research

 Talk Annotation: A component has been added to the QuarkNet1 program which funds high school students and a physics teacher to take part in a summer of ongoing physics research at six universities and national labs with QuarkNet centers. I will present the results of the work and experiences of the first 24 students to take part in this outstanding opportunity. I will also present the results from The University of Iowa and the University of Notre Dame where students have been taking part in research for several years. Come find out what it means to students and teachers to have taken advantage actually doing science with scientists.
