Fermilab Summer Students - 2009

Research: This summer I did Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image reduction and data analysis for strong gravitational lensing systems. Foreground galaxies were modeled in three different bands using Galfit program and subtracted from the original image of the strong lensing system. Gravitational arcs not seen clearly in the original HST images could be seen in the residual images, which provides opportunities to study the morphology of the lensed galaxies in detail.
