Who I am: I am currently in the last stage of my physics Master programme at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, Germany. In the past years, I had the opportunity to take part in particle physics and detector physics projects at University College London, TRIUMF in Canada, and at CERN, where I spent the past year working on the LHCb RICH detector upgrade.
I am fascinated by the technological possibilities that allow testing and expanding the fundamental theory of particle physics, the Standard Model. Developing and pushing novel technologies to make new discoveries possible is a major motivation for me. In particular, I enjoy working on computer simulations since they require a good understanding of the underlying physical processes.
I analysed the simulated cosmic ray data for the SBND experiment. The study determined the validity of the detector geometry simulation and the expected cosmogenic particle rates in the detector. Possible methods to reduce the background introduced by cosmic radiation were investigated.
