Who I am: I am an Italian student at University of Pisa and at the moment (2016-2017) I am attending the first year of a master degree in Physics. I live in Spoleto (Umbria), a town in the center of Italy, where I was born and grew up. Among my passions I can list soccer, which I played for several years, and music: I play the piano and attended piano lessons for 10 years.
Research: Antiprotons produced in the Mu2e experiment may reach the stopping target and annihilate, giving rise to 105 MeV electrons which can be mistaken for signal electrons. Anyway, an antiproton annihilation releases 2 GeV whereas a muon-to-electron conversion only 105 MeV: in my work we want to take advantage of this difference to train a neural network to perform discrimination of signal and background events.
